Terms of use

Last updated: 1 October 2026

1. The service

Gatekeep is an iPhone app that locks the apps you choose and unlocks them for a limited time after a motivation session: reading, writing or training for a few minutes. Publisher: Flavien Verloo, sole trader registered in France, SIREN 944 196 617. Contact: flavien.build@gmail.com.

2. No account

Using Gatekeep requires no account, no email address and no sign-in. There are no credentials to protect and no account to delete: your data lives on your device and goes away with the app.

3. Subscription

4. Blocking and the Screen Time permission

Blocking relies on Screen Time (Family Controls) and needs you to grant that permission to iOS. You can withdraw it at any time in iOS settings, or turn protection off from inside the app: there is always a way out. If iOS stops honouring the permission, the app says so and offers to repair it.

5. What Gatekeep is not

Gatekeep is a self-discipline tool and a container for motivational content. It is not a medical device, not therapy, and not addiction treatment. If your phone use is causing you real difficulty, talk to a professional.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the service: no unauthorised access attempts, no reverse engineering, no fraudulent use of subscriptions.

7. Availability and liability

We do our best to make the app reliable, but it is provided “as is”, with no guarantee of continuous availability and no guarantee that blocking runs uninterrupted, since that depends on iOS. To the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the amount paid for the subscription over the last 12 months.

8. Changes

We may change the app and these terms; significant changes will be flagged in the app. The version in force is the one published at this address.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by French law. Any dispute falls to the competent French courts, subject to mandatory consumer protection rules.
